Summer Camps 2016

Beginning students showing off their skirts

Even though it is cold and dark, summer will soon be here.  I spent the last month planning my camp schedule.  I surveyed some moms to find out their and their child's preferences for summer activities.  As a result of the survey, I have revamped my summer offerings.

I will have three Beginning Sewing Camps.  The first two will be only three days each. The children will learn the basics of operating a sewing machine and make either a skirt or a pair of shorts depending on which camp they are in.  The third camp will be the traditional 4 day camp and they will have their choice of what they want to sew after learning the basics.  All these camps are based on the Kids Can Sew and Craft program.

Yum! Pizza!  Pizza Party Sewing Camp

Chef's Apron  Pizza Party Sewing Camp

Yum!  Pizza!  In this one day camp the children will make both an apron and some pizza.  We will start by mixing the dough and then while it rises we will make ourselves an apron to wear.  Then we will finish making the pizza and enjoy it for a late lunch.

Denim Corsage  Denim Do-Over Sewing Camp

Studio Box  Denim Do-Over Sewing Camp

In Denim Do-Over the children will use old jeans to make a studio box that can hold their sewing supplies or art supplies.  They are going to be able to use lots of decorative stitches and threads to decorate their box.  They will also make a denim corsage.  This class will meet for four weeks on Wednesday mornings.  Get ready to think 'outside the box'.

Cord Taco  Travel Time Sewing Camp

And last but certainly not least, is Travel Time Sewing Camp.  They will start with making a roll up travel case for their necessities, a luggage tag, a vinyl zipper bag and a cord 'taco'.  They will have fun mixing and matching fabrics.  Get ready to travel, even if you are only going to stay overnight at grandma's house.  This camp will meet for four mornings the week of August 1st.
