Pizza Camp 2021

Enjoying lunch

Last week I had Pizza Camp.  During the one day camp, the girls made a reversible apron with an adjustable neck strap and we cooked pizzas on the grill.

Anna Catherine

Anna Catherine chose a fun cupcake pattern for her apron,  The reverse side was tiny white polka dots on a bright pink.  She also chose that bright pink for her straps.  She chose to place her pockets near the bottom of her apron.

Darby

Darby found a baking tools fabric for her apron with a solid brown for the reverse side.  She also used the brown for her straps.  She even found bronze tone D rings that matched the brown tones of her fabrics.  Her pockets are near the bottom also.

Ava

Ava chose a bright pink flamingo print.  She wanted to make hers a little longer since she is tall.  We drew a line down from the bottom of the pattern but when she started cutting, she forgot and just cut along the pattern.  Oops.  Not a mistake, a design opportunity I said.  We just cut a strip of the opposite fabric to add to the bottom.  We didn't have enough of the flamingo fabric to cut them so the would be right side up so we decided they are the sleeping flamingos on the bottom.  Her straps are the solid bright pink.

Evie

Evie had some family things going on and didn't get a chance to go shopping.  No problem, again design opportunities.  She had enough fabric from her petal skirt to cut one side of the apron and a pocket. She used fabric scraps from her shorts for her straps and other pocket.  I found a yard of coordinating fabric in my stash of quilt fabrics that she used for the second side of her apron.  Ava had lots of D rings and was able to share those with Evie.

Pizza
After sewing a bit, we broke and mixed the dough for the pizza crust and put in in the bread machine on the dough setting.  The girls worked fast enough that we had time to embroider on their aprons.  Darby opted to embroider on her pocket while the others did it on their apron.  After completing the aprons, they shaped their dough and made their pizzas.  I put them on the grill, but could only do one at a time, so it took a while.  They came out good but I think I will stick to the oven next time so they are all done at once.  A good time was had by all.
